Me and my big bro both arrived in Egypt this Wensday to spend the last days of Ramadan with our parents. Do those who are wondering ''what's Ramadan?''.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is the Islamic month of fasting, in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, and indulging in anything that is in excess; from dawn until sunset. Fasting is meant to teach the Muslim patience, modesty and spirituality. Ramaḍān is a time for Muslims to fast for the sake of God, and to offer more prayer than usual. During Ramaḍan, Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds. Scholars claimed that fasting also gives Muslims how it feels to be like starving poor folk and therefore encourages them to help the poor. As compared to solar calendar, the dates of Ramadan vary, moving forward about ten days each year as it is a moving festival depending on the moon. Ramadhan was the month in which the first verses of the Qur'an were claimed to have been revealed to the Prophet Muhammad [Qur'an 2:185].

I couldn't wait to meet up with my friends from college, celebrate the Eid ul-Fitr at the end of Ramadan and of course eat my mum's cooking (homemade cooking pwns restaurant and fastfood cooking anyday)
